Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR)

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, or EMDR for short, is a therapy that helps people heal from distressing experiences or traumas more quickly.

During EMDR sessions, we use a technique where you'll focus on the distressing memory while also paying attention to external stimuli, like hand movements or sounds.

The idea is that this dual attention helps your brain process the memory differently, making it less upsetting over time. It's kind of like helping your brain reorganize the way it stores and understands the troubling memory, so it doesn't feel as overwhelming anymore.

You don't have to talk about all the details of the memory if you're not comfortable. Instead, we'll work together to help your brain make sense of what happened in a way that feels safer and less distressing.
